AjPHA National Directors Needed!

 

The American Junior Paint Horse Association is on the hunt for young leaders for the 2018 AjPHA Board of National Directors! They are hoping to continue growing our international youth leadership team in 2018 and need your help!

2018 AjPHA National Director forms (Individual Nominations & Regional Club Forms) are due January 1, 2018. These forms are available on aphaonline.com and are included below. There are 5 seats available in Ontario for 2018. AJPHA members from Ontario will vote via electronic ballot to select their representation if more than 5 members apply.

What is an AjPHA National Director?
They are AjPHA’s hands and feet on the regional level. They are passionate about Paints in whatever activities they participate in with their Paint horse—showing APHA, trail riding, open shows or just enjoying their time spent with their Paint horse. Additionally, they help us spread the word about new and existing programs, scholarships and other APHA/AjPHA news on the regional level. These leaders are asked to brainstorm ideas about program changes, additions and updates for AjPHA as well as write and bring forward rule changes for the AjPHA. Also, only AjPHA National Directors are eligible to run for AjPHA Executive Committee positions.

That sounds AWESOME! So…how do I help a youth become one?
Just encourage them to apply! Youth must be a current AjPHA Member and be 17 or younger as of January 1, 2018 to apply. Interested youth can apply through their club/Junior club with the president or youth advisor (adult) OR submit an Individual Director Form to cgillett@apha.com.

Bottom line – youth are encouraged to become more involved with AjPHA! A leadership role within AjPHA is a great way to meet new friends, enhance leadership skills & build up a resume.

Youth Scholarships through the American Paint Horse Association 

 
Each year, the American Paint Horse Foundation awards scholarship funds to some of AjPHA’s most deserving young members.
 
Over the past quarter century, the American Paint Horse Foundation has awarded more than $800,000 in scholarships to 272 students. A youth development program also helps fund American Junior Paint Horse leadership symposiums every year and the AjPHA Member of the Year Scholarship Fund.
 
The Foundation annually awards 50 academic scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to Paint Horse youth.
 
Who are the students who receive Foundation scholarships? They are the hard-working young horsemen and -women you see striving every day to be the best both in the horse show arena and in their academic pursuits. These students are supported by the generous donations given to the Foundation program by APHA members.
 
For scholarship consideration, students must be a member of the AjPHA or APHA, must pass a college entrance examination, provide three letters of reference and submit an essay explaining their educational plans. Once they have been granted a scholarship, they must maintain a "B" or better grade-point average to be eligible for renewal.

To apply for a academic scholarship, the application and letters of reference must be post marked by March 1. You can download the application form and recommendation form or request one be mailed to you.
